Now for a wee bit of history: Originally built in 1889, this Victorian lodge has stood witness to Dundee’s transformation from a bustling port city to a dynamic cultural hub. The cottage is steeped in the rich heritage of the famous James Keiller & Sons Dundee marmalade family Estate, Binrock. Janet Keiller, the inventive matriarch credited with the creation of Dundee marmalade, this picturesque cottage holds a unique place in the records of culinary history. Renowned gardener and television presenter Monty Don traces his lineage back to this very estate, as Janet Keiller was his great-great-great-grandmother.
Located on Perth Road, this is the ideal base to explore all that Dundee and the surrounding areas have to offer. The Perth Road, a leisurely 10 minute stroll form the cottage, is renowned for its eclectic mix of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, offering something for every taste and preference. Pacamara is highly recommended for a delicious brunch before you start a busy day exploring.
Venture further afield, and you’ll discover a wealth of tourist attractions waiting to be explored. Dundee is home to an array of cultural institutions, including the acclaimed V&A Dundee, which showcases cutting edge design and innovation. History enthusiasts will delight in exploring Dundee’s rich maritime heritage at the Discovery Point museum, where you can step aboard the RRS Discovery and learn about Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic expedition.
