The Space
At the heart of the cottage is a striking open plan kitchen and dining room, a bright and sociable space with polished concrete floors, a handcrafted oak kitchen, a three oven electric AGA and a large dining table made for long breakfasts, easy dinners and slow evenings together. Sliding doors open directly onto the enclosed terrace, creating an easy indoor outdoor flow in warmer months.
The sitting room is full of warmth and personality, with an original fireplace, rich pops of colour, carefully chosen artwork and comfortable seating that invites guests to properly settle in after a day exploring. Throughout the cottage, the interiors feel considered rather than formal, blending rural character with a calm, stylish finish.
Each of the four bedrooms has its own quiet charm, with quality beds, crisp cotton linen and a restful feel. Three of the bedrooms feature zip and link beds, giving flexibility for different group setups, whether you are travelling as a family, with children, or as couples sharing. The bathrooms continue the same thoughtful style, with powerful showers, Heritage fittings, underfloor heating and a roll top bath in the main bathroom that adds a little drama to the stay.
Outside
Guests have their own enclosed terrace with outdoor dining furniture and a charcoal barbecue, perfect for relaxed lunches, evening drinks or summer suppers. Beyond the cottage, guests also have shared access to the wider grounds and amenities at Papple Steading, including open paddock space, woodland areas, a firepit seating area and plenty of room for children to explore and play. Grieve’s Cottage sleeps up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms and welcomes up to 2 dogs free of charge, with a third dog by prior agreement. Guests have parking for at least 2 cars opposite the cottage, with additional overflow parking available on the estate. The cottage also benefits from superfast fibre broadband throughout, making it as practical as it is comfortable.
