This charming period home in the town of Kirriemuir sits beside the birthplace of the famous author and playwright J. M. Barrie. The white washed cottage next door is now a museum dedicated to the creator of Peter Pan, adding a special sense of history to your stay.
The property offers a comfortable and welcoming base from which to explore the town and the surrounding Angus countryside. From here you can enjoy local history, scenic walks and easy access to some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes.
Living Space and Bedrooms
The house is set over two floors with easy access from the street. Downstairs you will find a bright and spacious lounge, decorated in soft tones and designed as a comfortable place to relax after a day out exploring.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other arranged as a twin room. Both rooms have a warm and traditional feel, with decorative wallpaper and comfortable bedding.
The main bathroom continues the character of the house and features a claw foot roll top bath, perfect for a relaxing soak. There is also a separate shower cubicle for added convenience.
Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen has been designed in a modern shaker style while keeping a classic feel that suits the period property. Features such as the Belfast sink and brass fittings add character to the space.
A dining table with seating for four provides a comfortable place to enjoy meals together.
Location
Kirriemuir, known locally as Kirrie, is an attractive town with a rich history connected to weaving, jute and local folklore. A statue of Peter Pan stands in the town square and the J. M. Barrie museum sits right beside the property.
The location is ideal for exploring Angus. The nearby Angus Glens offer excellent walking routes and opportunities to see local wildlife. Glenshee ski centre is also within reach during the winter months.
Nearby towns such as Forfar provide additional shops and leisure facilities, while attractions including Glamis Castle, the Bon Scott statue and the Loch of Kinnordy Nature Reserve are all within easy reach.
For those who enjoy golf, courses can be found at Kirriemuir, Forfar and Alyth, while Carnoustie and Blairgowrie are a short drive away. The coastline is also close by, with sandy beaches at Lunan Bay, St Cyrus and Montrose.
