About the Property
Our traditional stone built terraced cottage in Tayport dates back to the mid 1800s and has been recently fully renovated. The property is dog friendly and offers a peaceful, comfortable base for exploring the East Coast of Scotland. Tayport is conveniently located just 4 miles from Dundee, 10 miles from St Andrews and 15 miles from Carnoustie. It is within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh or Glasgow and a half hour from Perth, the gateway to the Highlands.
The cottage has three bedrooms, including a loft studio bedroom, one sitting room, a bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. A quiet, fully enclosed garden at the rear provides seating areas, a water feature and a BBQ, perfect for relaxing outdoors.
Living Space and Bedrooms
The sitting room features a gas fired log burning stove and a smart TV, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attic bedroom is a spacious loft with a king size bed, sofa, and 50 inch smart TV. An extra double mattress can also be provided. Please note the staircase to the attic is narrow, similar to houses in Amsterdam, and may not be suitable for the elderly or less mobile. All beds are fitted with electric blankets for added comfort.
The bathroom includes a large bath and a separate walk in shower, with extra hand rails available if needed.
Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. A breakfast bar with two to six stools offers casual dining or a space to gather.
Location
Tayport is a charming harbour town with excellent access to forest and beach walks. The town has three pubs, including Cobbies Bar, which holds a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence, and The Bell Rock, which offers Indian cuisine for sit in or takeout. There are three takeaways, two cafes, and a variety of shops. Menus and local tourist information are available in the cottage.
For golf enthusiasts, Scotscraig Golf Club is a historic course, having been a qualifying venue for the Open Championship and the 13th oldest course in the world. Tennis courts, two children’s parks, and scenic walking routes add to the options for outdoor activities.
Guest Access and Important Information
Guests have full access to the entire cottage and garden. Free street parking is available directly outside the property, with an additional free car park at the harbour just a two minute walk away.
As we live only two minutes from the cottage, we are available personally to help with any issues. While we enjoy meeting guests, particularly those from overseas or keen gardeners, we respect those who prefer a simple booking and stay. A key box is available outside the front door for self check in.
The cottage is well connected, with a good bus service to Dundee and St Andrews. The nearest train stations are Dundee (4 miles) and Leuchars (6 miles), with easier parking at Leuchars if travelling to Edinburgh.
