The Space
Inside, the open-plan living area has been finished with a confident eye for design. The vaulted ceiling, exposed stonework, polished concrete floor and soft palette of blues, lilacs and warm timber give the space a bright, calm feel, while the furnishings and styling keep it playful and memorable.
The kitchen is beautifully put together with open shelving, quality appliances and an AGA, while the living area opens straight out onto a private terrace, giving the bothy an easy indoor-outdoor feel. It is compact, but it does not feel compromised.
The bedroom continues the same thoughtful approach, with patterned walls, a flexible zip and link bed set up as either a super king or twins, and a cosy boutique feel throughout. The bathroom is equally full of character, with bold colour, bath with shower over, and a polished finish that keeps the space practical as well as stylish.
Outside
To the rear, Ploughman’s Bothy has its own private terrace with seating, perfect for coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at the end of the day. Beyond that, guests can enjoy the wider shared grounds at Papple Steading, including open paddock space, woodland walks, a fire pit area and family-friendly outdoor features woven through the estate.
It is the kind of setting that gives guests room to switch off properly, whether that means reading outside, heading off for a long walk, or simply enjoying the quiet.
Ploughman’s Bothy sleeps 2 guests and is all on one level, making it a comfortable option for guests who prefer ground floor accommodation. One dog is welcome free of charge, with a second considered by prior arrangement.
The bothy sits alongside the other Papple Steading properties, so guests enjoy the privacy of their own stay while still having access to the shared estate grounds and amenities.

Papple Steading is tucked into the East Lothian countryside, close to East Linton, Haddington, Dunbar and the coast. It is an excellent base for walkers, runners, cyclists, golfers and guests looking to explore pretty villages, beaches, local food spots and historic sites. Edinburgh is also within easy reach by car or train, making this an easy countryside escape with city access when wanted.
