The cottage is located in the quiet narrow street of Kirk Wynd, one of the oldest streets in Kirriemuir, measuring just 158 metres long. The cottage is nestled beside the Glens and Kirriemuir Old Parish Church which was built in 1787 by the famous architect James Playfair. Many trades were originally located in Kirk Wynd including weavers, tailors, milliners and slaters.

Kirk Wynd Cottage was originally two dwellings, ‘West Cottage’ (Listed Category C and dating from 1780) and ‘East Cottage’ (dating from 1714). West Cottage was extended downstairs into East Cottage in the mid 1980’s. In 2013 it was then extensively refurbished and extended upstairs to create the cosy house it is today.

Throughout Kirk Wynd Cottage, tasteful decor creates a bright and inviting atmosphere. The welcoming snug on the ground floor offers a cosy haven with its log burner, sofa bed, and smart TV. Additionally, you’ll find library shelves stocked with books, games, and toys to keep the little ones entertained.

The stylish kitchen/diner is well-appointed, featuring a Rangemaster cooker and a generously sized farmhouse dining table, ideal for leisurely meals.

Upstairs, two bedrooms beckon, one with an ensuite shower room, each furnished with a comfortable double bed. Completing the upper level is a family bathroom featuring a bathtub, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure in Angus.

Kirk Wynd Cottage is conveniently within walking distance of Kirriemuir’s town center, renowned for its traditional red sandstone houses and charming cobbled streets. Kirriemuir is notably famous for being the birthplace of J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, and also the hometown of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott – you’ll encounter statues commemorating both Peter Pan and Bon in the town!

Referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Glens,’ Kirriemuir serves as an ideal launching point for exploring the Angus region, whether you’re traveling with family or friends. A short drive leads to the breathtaking Angus Glens, offering opportunities for hiking, cycling, fishing, hunting, or conquering some Munros. If you prefer the beach, beautiful East Coast destinations like Broughty Ferry and Lunan Bay are easily accessible.

Kirriemuir also boasts an 18-hole golf course with scenic views extending north to Glen Clova and Glen Doll. With the A90 dual carriageway just ten minutes away, Kirriemuir also serves as a convenient base for visiting the numerous renowned championship golf courses in the region, including Montrose Golf Links, Carnoustie Golf Links, The Old Course in St Andrews, and Gleneagles.

The cottage is beautifully renovated and had absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. Kirriemuir is a great base for visiting the stunning Angus Glens and castles nearby.”
