About this listing

Kirk Wynd Cottage

Nestled in the heart of Kirriemuir, Kirk Wynd Cottage is a charming abode with a traditional red sandstone facade. Within the sandstone walls, you will find two bedrooms, one of which includes an ensuite shower room, and a welcoming lounge area complete with a wood-burning stove and a farmhouse kitchen with dining area.

Kirk Wynd Cottage in Kirriemuir is situated on the tranquil and historic Kirk Wynd, one of the town’s oldest thoroughfares, spanning a mere 158 metres. Nestled adjacent to the Glens and the Kirriemuir Old Parish Church, constructed in 1787 by renowned architect James Playfair, Kirk Wynd was once a bustling hub of industry, housing weavers, tailors, milliners, and slaters.

Originally comprising two residences – ‘West Cottage’ (listed Category C, dating back to 1780) and ‘East Cottage’ (built in 1714) – Kirk Wynd Cottage underwent renovation in the mid-1980s, merging West Cottage with East Cottage on the ground floor. Subsequently, in 2013, the property was extensively remodeled and expanded on the upper level, transforming it into the charming abode it is today.

The interior of Kirk Wynd Cottage exudes elegance and warmth, creating a welcoming and radiant ambiance throughout. The ground-floor snug beckons with its comforting log burner, sofa bed, and smart TV, while a collection of books, games, and toys on the library shelves cater to the entertainment of younger guests.

In the Kirk Wynd Cottage in Kirriemuir, a tastefully designed kitchen/dining room awaits, showcasing a Rangemaster stove and a spacious farmhouse table, ideal for relaxed dining experiences. Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms are found, one boasting an ensuite shower facility, both equipped with cosy double beds. The top floor is rounded off by a family bathroom with a bathtub, providing the perfect setting for relaxation post a day of exploring Angus.

Previous reviews from our fantastic guests:

“Had a great few nights at this beautiful house. 10 out of 10 would love to stay again.”

“Amazing place to stay. Such a gorgeous cottage. We absolutely loved it! Lovely helpful hosts. A perfect stay.”

well located within easy walking distance of bars, coffee shops etc. We were two couples and the place was ideal for that with the two bathrooms. It is well appointed with everything you need, all very clean. Would definitely go back!”

“I recently had a wonderful 4 night stay at Kirk Wynd Cottage when I was visiting for a wedding at nearby Rottal Steading in Glen Clova. Following a series of unexpected travel nightmares, I arrived later than planned and in the dark, but despite the slightly unusual situation of the parking space and lockbox, the incredibly clear photos and instructions meant that I still found and accessed the cottage easily. The cottage is beautifully renovated and had absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. Kirriemuir is a great base for visiting the stunning Angus Glens and castles nearby.”

“Booked for a family get-together, and we had a great time! Mom’s favorite was the kitchen, dad’s favorite was the wood stove, my favorite was the ceiling window, and hubby’s favorite was the church bell. Cozy, clean, and welcoming place. Highly recommended!”
We look forward to welcoming you to Kirk Wynd Cottage!
